OK, Don, I'll toss in a few west Knoxpatch courses in case they want to come this way...

The west side of Knoxville is about 1 hour down I-40 from FFG. Around Tellico Lake, we have 3 Tellico Village courses: Toqua, Tanasi and Kahite. Toqua and Kahite can be tough and are good layouts, Tanasi is a bit shorter, but has undulating greens which toughen it up some. Toqua hosted the Tennessee Senior Amateur last year and the TN Women's Amateur the year before. (I live on Toqua.) Kahite has an 802 yard par-6, which is something different...I can't reach the fairway with my best drive from that back tee. :)... and is generally a good layout with nice views of the lake and mountains on a good day. The senior tees on all three of these courses shorten them down a bit and the regular men's tees are a good challenge for anyone. Rarity Bay is a shorter course on the lake that's hilly, but open and always in good shape. Usually has the best greens around. Closer to Knoxville are two good courses, Avalon and Willow Creek. Avalon is a tough course and usually in good shape, but is on a ridge next to I-40 and the truck noise is almost deafening on the holes near the road. Willow Creek hosted the Knox Open (Nationwide Tour) for a few years and is usually in very good shape. None of these are inexpensive, though Tellico Village seniors have a $33 charge at Rarity Bay.

Subject: Re: ShopTalk: Has anyone had anyone played Fairfield Glade?

Live Here and have lived in the Nashville Area for 30+ years. Lots of good courses in the area all with in an 1-1/2 hours drive. I would rank the the courses as follows:
Heatherhurst has 2 courses
Brae (Zoysia)
Craig(Short Course)
Bear Trace (Just taken over by the state so don't know how they will maintain but still a good track)
Deer Creek (Green Superintendent just moved from Bear Trace Greens super fast)
Lake Tansi (Old course not a lot of character)
Fairfield has 2 other courses
Druid and Dorchester (Druid they have redone the sprinkler system so might be rough this summer)
Be glad to help in anyway I can

My golf friends & I are considering a package from Fairfield Glade near  Crossville, Tennessee.  The courses we are considering are:

Bear Trace

 Deer Creek

Heatherhearst

Lake Tansi

Does anyone know anything about these courses?

Also as an engineer who likes to know how things truly work, I really enjoy the expertise & discussion of this group.
