Tom,

I do not understand 'a' in your email.

when I type $ ifconfig I get the following information:

$ ifconfig
eth0  Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:00:00:00:00:0a
       inet addr:192.168.2.100  Bcast:192.168.2.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
       inet6 addr: fe80::221:97ff:fe45:295f/64 Scope:Link

  lo   Link encap:Local Loopback
       inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
       inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host

I do not see a PPP0 that is why I did not mention it.

     a) It looks like you have tried to configure a two-interface
        firewall

        although your computer only has one IPv4 interface (ppp0).

    b) ppp0 isn't mentioned at all in your configuration.

       Please:

        a) Delete everything in /etc/shorewall
        b) Now follow the step-by-step instructions at
        http://www.shorewall.net/standalone.htm
