know how to install openssh anyway.

My argument is that while one ssh session would
have a little footprint, multiple sessions would not.

Run them in screen sessions with bash, and you
see how fast the footprint grows.  So I think we
should have a conservative membory setup (to save
where we can).  Gigabytes is created by many small
bytes:)

I assume the footprint is proportional with the number
of sessions.

With the nice illume keyboard, I don't need to export
X sessions from the phone to my host computer any
more, so dropbear provides everything I need.
