actually in current shr-u, I believe you need to change the mic setting, and then reboot, and then the setting will be remembered... Kinda annoying, but not the end of the world...
yeah, they no longer use alsa config files - however, I believe someone posted a script that would convert alsa config files into the new format... what is the issue with landscape mode in the new shr-u for you? I've used it a lot for reading e-books and haven't had issues... I use omnewrotate to rotate the screen and it seems to work.
