If the number of CAs is used to estimate the size of a global RPKI repository (number of objects), then the distinction between hosted and delegated model doesn't matter. It matters if you want to estimate the number of different repositories to query. But I don't know what to do with that number afterwards.

The time it takes for an RP to acquire all updated/new objects is a function of both the number of objects and the number of repositories, as illustrated by the measurements that Rob, Andrew et al. have posted, and reflected in the models that have been developed. That's why the projected number of repositories (in the future) has become a contentious
topic.
