The business school is an strange place. My roomate is in the business school
and was telling me about how UT Business recommends that students specifically
purchase a Intel based, Win98 computer. They actually go as far as to say "Do
not buy a Macintosh" Apparently, they claim that 98% of the business community
is running Office 97 and Win98, competitive advantage, blah blah blah.

So?

They don't make computer science students write Windows-specific code... and A
LOT if not most of the world's software development is towards MS apps, right?

Plus Office 98 is out for the Mac and not for Win98.
Macs can read in MSDOS floppies and view/edit Office Documents.
My Linux box can read MSDOS floppies and view/edit Office Documents.
I could find a non-microsoft solution to any computing problem you ask me.
What advantage am I honestly missing by not running Win98?

I think you are right Tom, there is something to fear. The ignorance of the
business school's IT directors. And some of the students for that matter.

Diversity in Operating Systems!
