Hey, I know this isn't directly related to linux but I know a fair
number of you folks are RR users (and linux users probably are more
server inclined than win9x users on the whole). So, anyway, here's what
I'm wondering about:
I'd like to set up a web server, purely as a hobby/gain experience
type thing. I well understand that setting up a server to be a total
bandwidth hog is a Bad Thing, as it screws everyone else in you local
node. I'd just like to play around with apache/mod_perl/JSPs/SSis/etc.,
but I sincerely doubt the admins here at ccwf where my page is currently
at want to be screwing with their apache setup every five minutes because
some annoying user keeps bugging them... :D I am also aware of the need
to make my system secure before it is exposed, and I am reading up on
system security beforehand (side note: www.attrition.org/gallery/ has
three funny O'Rielly book cover parodies in the first section; the one
for Practical Unix and Internet Security is really funny).
So, given that what I want to do would be non-commercial,
low-bandwidth (comparatively, it'd be pretty big for a 28.8 ;) ), and
(hopefully) not a security risk, do any of you know if TW would allow
this? (if not, I think I may have to look into DSL... TW pisses me
off enough already, and all I need is just one more straw so to speak :D)
Thanks for any light you all can shed!
mike
