I'd be willing to help out a Saturday morning or two with installations
and setup. One thing we do have to remember is UT Game Days(tm) and the
fact that there is *no* parking available within 10 miles of campus. We
would need to move it offsite or have it on Sunday.
My $0.02 on other issues:
Distribution: RedHat. Only because it's becoming a widely used/recognized
distro. If a newbie needs help, there is a greater chance that they
will find a RH linux user first.
Value-added: In addition to pumping StarOffice and mp3 players onto their
new linux boxes, we will probably want to "toasterize" their machines as
well in terms of shutting down services and locking out the bad boys. The
last thing we want is to have these machines hacked the moment they get
plugged into the net.
Depending on when this is going to take place, I should have a CD with all
the RH updates and such a toaster script, as well as a few basic security
packages like tripwire, sudo, and ssh.
