Does anyone know if it's sensible to expect to arrive in Bangalore in
the morning, and be in Madikere by evening? What's the best way to do
it? Bus to Mysore and another to Madikere? Would a taxi be expensive?
The best way would be to drive - takes around 6-7 hours.
Alternatively, use the KSRTC (State govt run buses) There is one lot
which leaves Bangalore at noon and reaches 8-ish. You can poke around
this page to get details (unfortunately, it seems to only work with
Internet Explorer)

NB: Madikeri is referred to by its old name of Mercara in this page.
Try calling the nearest KSTRC office to get more details, with the
