I've done Bombay to Bangalore about 2 years ago. The roads were excellent except for very small streches before Belgaum and before Hubli and one bad one around 100km from Bangalore which I'm forgetting. We did it in about 18 hours of driving excluding stops. Disclaimer: No idea about current road status. - cnb
