I guess....very often,  terming a group "elitist" depends on whether
one is in a group, or not....! :) If you belong, then, of course, you
very often are not even aware that others might feel excluded.  And
sometimes, the included and the excluded are pretty happy with things
as they are, too.
Ignorance is bliss in such "invitation-only" groups. What you don't know can't hurt you. But release the nugget of information that such groups exist and there is a mad scramble for joining. It reminds me of gmail when it was by invitation only. People were begging for accounts, seen some post in Silk too to this effect. I guess it is just human (or should I say, animal) instinct to want to belong.

If any of you have watched the Frasier series of sitcoms, you will remember the episode of the elite club that he and his elitist brother die to join. Once they do, they discover additional elite levels and sneak into them successively only to discover that the platinum door led outside the club near the trash cans. What fun. :-)
