I agree with your rant.

Tambram, two degrees (a BSc in electronics and an MBA) from a very
forgettable institution (Osmania University, Hyderabad), after which I've
entirely forgotten Ohms law, let alone Group Theory or Thermodynamics within
days of scraping through my exams) and still can't figure out double entry
bookkeeping.  

That's not a very big loss, and those years of trying to solve three or four
page calculus heavy theorems were a huge waste of time for me in any case.
Joining an IIT, or even a fly by night engineering college, would have been
an even worse waste of time, to learn roughly the same subjects in much more
detail.

What I've done for a living over the past 10 years or so (antispam ops)
isn't taught anywhere at all that I know of, but hey, I don't see
universities offering courses in becoming janitors either, and filtering
spam is the internet equivalent anyway.
