The map that the link above shows will give the interested person information
about what we are dealing with.

The map shows the NWFP (North West frontier Province) of Pakistan in white. To
the top right corner of the picture are "the "Northern Areas" a Pakistani
euphemism for the portion of Kashmir occupied by Pakistan. To the east of
that and invisible in this map is Indian Kashmir.

The portions of the map colored grey, red and yellow are the FATA
or "Federally Administered Tribal Areas" of Pakistan. These areas have now
come under the control of Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Attacks on US and NATO
troops in Afghanistan occur from bases in FATA which are not administered
from Pakistan at all, despite the name.

So there is a continuous belt of land occupied by Islamic extremists starting
from FATA to the West, NWFP to the east of that, and Pakistan occupied
Kashmir to the East of that. The insurgency in Indian Kashmir is an Islamist
insurgency that is being called a "freedom struggle", just like Hamas and the
Taliban/Al Qaeda have freedom struggles in progress against Jews and the
America.

Any mistaken Indian feelings that Kashmir should be given "freedom" should
really be seen in the light of knowledge of what is actually happening in
that part of the country and world, which is not a strong point among many
Indians, given India's failed education system and irrelevant news media.

As an aside, look on the map for a place called Darra Adamkhel. It is a red
dot just below Peshawar. Darra Adamkhel is Pakistan's unofficial arms
manufacturing area where you can buy Kalashnikov clones for less than US $
100. All our friendly neighborhood terrorists get arms from there, or from
China.
