Yes, largely. Buddhism declined due to much more than one reason, but 
Shankaracharya's crusade FOR Vedantic, Saivite Hinduism was also a campaign 
against other schools of Hinduism and against a Buddhism already in decline.

I can go into detail on this, if you wish, after my return on the 10th. I am 
largely cut off till then.
