You mean the post 1947 Republic of India. This is the only India that has any
definition or shape. And comes bundled with rules to maintain that shape and
definition. But don;t ask me to define it. Look at Wiki.

The concept of "Nation state" demands the existence of a defining shape
(boundaries/sacrosanct borders).

No religion demands the imposition of geographic borders. (Until Jinnah
overruled Maududi's objections and imposed the borders of Pakistan :D)

Unfortunately "democracy" demands the imposition of physical borders. That is
because democracy is a latecomer in the order of things and has had to carve a
place for itself in a world controlled by border less religion, or temporary
borders defined by monarchs and royal dynasties.

Communism started off as a trans-border "universal" concept. But communism too
has had to fight for survival in a world that already had many faulty systems
for governing and organizing mankind. And that meant that borders became
essential for communism too if only for self-preservation.
