Books aside - Indians are overoptimistic in general. I cannot swear that overoptimistic=overconfident, but optimism does not translate to lack of confidence as far as I can tell. The behavior of Indians crossing busy roads and the confidence with which Indians allow toddlers to play unsupervised on roads (and the associated high accident mortality rates and lack of general remorse or concern about this) suggests a people who think that things will generally go well. Allowing 5000 Pakistanis into India for a match in India is yet another manifestation of overconfidence to me. shiv
