That was Cleve Backster. As it turns out I designed some of the equipment he used. That was back in '70. Extermely interesting stuff. I remember at the time I was able to drive the meter full scale up or down by simply concentrating on the plant and sending it thoughts. I have argued for decades that most of the experiments done with living subjects are worthless because the thoughts of the experimenter can so effect the outcome. Also interestingly he found that a conductive rubber (I think it was to dissipate static in operating rooms) that had similar reactions, but was not alive.
