I have grown soybeans and tried to eat them raw. They were irrigated and fed well. Somehow, the taste was not very good.
I have eaten many roasted soybeans over the years also.

Possibly they may not be an acceptable food, raw.

They can give you some *major* gas- not very digestible when raw.

I made some excellent soymilk according to some instructions I got from a sweet Chinese woman. Unfotunately, due to the language barrier, I misunderstood some of her signals, and we drank it raw, it tasted pretty good, but my son, who drank nearly a full 8 oz glass, nearly burst from the gas. LOL- it still makes me laugh, we were all pretty full of it.

After thinking for quite awhile about the conversation, and reviewing my notes, I realized she told me to bring it to a rolling boil, stirring all the while, 3 times before drinking it warm.

needless to say, my boys didn't trust me to make soy milk again.
