The only side effect known to man of Vitamin C is .... the trots if you take too much. Take vitamin C til you get the runs, then you know you've reached your daily limit. A few unfortunate people on this earth are allergic to vitamin c, just as a few unfortunate people on this earth are allergic to the rays of the sun. Some cancer studies found that cancer patients had almost no vitamin c left in their blood because their bodies were using every bit of the vitamin c to fight the illness. These people are on highly elevated doses of vitamin c administered by their doctors, gaining much physical comfort from vitamin c. One naturopathic physician of my acquaintance was asked which vitamin or mineral supplement would he want with him if he were abandoned alone on an island somewhere. He says: Vitamin C. The medical name and the mainstream definition of Vitamin C is Ascorbic Acid. In part, we have Linus Pauling to thank for that. Ascorbic Acid as we get it in supplemental form is not a natural product, it is synthesized. Some contend that Ascorbic Acid in nature represents about 5% of the total spectrum of vitamin C compounds. I suspect that this study is rigged one way or another, and given the true nature of what we've been led to believe- that Ascorbic Acid is all there is to Vitamin C- this result was probably not hard to predict or get. Just this week I finally decided to drop my standing order of Ascorbic Acid powder from the Vitamin C Foundation, whom I regard as a fine outfit. We got on standing order while treating Lyme, and I probably wouldn't hesitate to do it again should the need arise. But I'm ready to go more natural for my vitamin C. I ordered three bottles of NOW Acerola Powder from Amazon. Oh and one more thing, Any of you regularly taking ascorbic acid or any mineral ascorbates (made with ascorbic acid) might want to do some homework about where your ascorbic acid originated from. A lot is coming from China. Anybody heard of any problems lately with Chinese stuff? We learned the hard way in this house that cheap ascorbic acid can make you very sick.
