Cancer is a multi-faceted dis ease not unlike any other state of dis ease. I had friends in a support group of six that I belonged to....and guess what....they all died. Regardless of what alternative or mainstream methods they chose. Being the only survivor of the group, naturally I began to ask why due to having to face the very real reality of my own demise . When I had time to reflect upon their personalities and as I went past the group to medical treatment, one thing I found to be consistent was what a persons "attitude" or preconceived conceptions/ideas towards health or disease was and how significant a role it played in their recovery or demise.
One woman I remember made an incredible impression upon me. Her husband was a medical doctor and she had a brain tumor. One day, I noticed that every time I saw her she was wearing black..from head to toe. Oh, yes, she was hopeful and went to every major cancer center in the country. Another gal who had Stage 4 CA was an 35 year old RN with 4 small children....and no matter what anyone said, no matter what book she read, or group she attended, the doctors always knew best what was best for her. They told her.....she was going to die within a certain time frame. Guess what...she didn't disappoint them. She died on time. If there is one central theme I noted among those who did not recover, and I have been to the top as part of a study in Bethesda, Maryland is that people who do not truly believe they are going to live.....will die. Pauling, imho, earned his Nobel prize not only because of his profound work but because he was among the first, non esoteric practitioners of medicine in the 20th Century to realize that sickness is not necessarily relegated to the body. Were these people who were given 8 weeks to live? I don't think so. Many cancers go into remission. He cured them and then some promptly died, of cancer! Remission period to qualify being given variously at six months to tow years maximum. The rest? Oh they went right on living exactly as they used to! He should have concluded then, that the earlier doses of Vitamin C 'protected them for life! And got a Double dose of Nobels. Sorry, another magic bullet bites the dust.
