Hi,

There are two things that my vet impressed on me.  One is that the salt
needs to be Lite Salt which is high in potassium.  The second is, to use
corn syrup but to date, he has never been able to explain to me why it is
better than sugar.

There is one more thing in my vet's recipe and that is baking soda.  He
calls it an electrolyte recipe for dehydration.

His recipe to me is:
1 gallon of water
1 Tablespoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of Lite Salt
8 oz. corn syrup

I've used this recipe as a drench, or orally with great results for many
years.
