It is a compound of sodium, boron, oxygen and the OH radical.
Specifically it is Na2B4O7ยท10H2O. Although in small dosages it can
supply needed boron, in large dosages it is toxic, as is any compound
containing boron. It has an LD-50 of around 2 gram per KG for rodents.
Thus a 200 pound person would have a likely limit of around 200 grams or
about 6 ounces.

Does anyone know of any negatives regarding the use of borax as a
dietary source of boron??? Have read that just one joint of the index
finger coated with borax and popped into the mouth will give enough
boron to suffice for daily needs. Need confirmation as to this
