No clue what my D levels are, I base it more on how I feel than on
numbers. Most of the big testing houses are big-pharma owned. (Quest
Diagnostics, etc) My wife and I happen to be/were in medical fields
ourselves, but that doesn't mean we have faith in the system. (in fact
we personally avoid it) I've heard estimates as high as 40% of blood
tests being inaccurate. Yikes! This year was a very good winter for me,
and I took no added D other than what is in my whole-food vitamins as
part of that package.
It's more of a feel thing for me, do I feel good? Yes? Then we're
probably on the right track.. I work with TCM, and don't really need to
recognize individual pathogens to cure people. In fact, it just gets in
the way. Cough? Wind/Heat, draw down the heat, and expel the wind and
the person is cured, the pathogen is irrelevant in this practice. It's
an ancient practice that can be immensely more effective than western
medicine, and affords real cures - if done right.
Too much reliance on "Numbers" gets us in a lot of trouble. Back when I
was in med school 100+Age not over 180 was considered a normal Systolic
BP. They pushed this number way way down, and in the process, got
another billion dollars in blood pressure drugs selling every year.
It's really a game, there was no basis to change the 100+Age doctrine
that had been absolutely fine for decades prior to this. In terms of
blood sugar, most people "Feel" better with a 100-140 blood sugar
reading, yet that's considered borderline or diabetic by the drug
pushers. Personally, I tell people to not worry about it unless you are
pushing the 200's after a meal, you know? Chasing cholesterol numbers is
another scam, Statins are horrible drugs, with long term detrimental
effects. Nobody has ever died from high cholesterol, yet plenty of
people have lost their memory, bone structure, or contracted cancer from
Statin side effect toxicity.
All my opinion of course, for what it is worth.

Hello Bodhisattva,
Do you happen to know what your blood levels of vitamin D are?
You may be in an area that has the proper sun and may spend enough
time outside to get all the D you need. If that is the case, you
don't need to worry about D.
On the other hand, if your vitamin D levels are low, you may need more
than a tin or two of sardines and may want to consider a vacation in
the tropics.

Sardines are about $1.00 a can in most locations, olive oil based
are the best in my opinion, and I like the ones with the skin and
bones. They aren't cheap. Since they are very small, usually
young, the toxic content of them is extremely minute, or in many
cases, non-existent. Sardines are pretty safe, and are a super
food, lots of magnesium in them too!
Regardless of what /they/ tell us, I absolutely do not believe D3
is a precursor to whatever you'd get from the sun, or sardines, I
don't think the so-called experts are all that authoritative,
especially with nature.. It's just not natural in my opinion, and
I tend to go with the most natural solution to any problems when
possible. Often, food is our medicine, and simple diet
adjustments can offer some pretty measurable improvements in
health. You can only trash your body so long before it starts to
rebel, it works very hard to keep you healthy, against all odds at
times! I don't believe anyone needs 15K IU of synthetic D a day,
that just sounds ridiculous to me. But I'm not about to tell
anyone what to do with their free will, it is your body and I have
nothing but respect for you.. For me, I don't even like D in my
milk, I'd love for raw milk to not be "Illegal" in this country
(people are arrested in this country for selling real milk, can
you believe that?), it's considered a super-powered food. Yogas
have lived for decades with perfect health just consuming heated
milk with a dash of ginger. Very good stuff, but over cooking it
destroys a whole lot of the goodness in it.
If you pay attention to trends, you'll see a whole lot of really
beneficial things eventually get stuff done to them so they aren't
so beneficial. Much of this we can thank our so-called govt. that
represents the people.
Milk - Hormones, overcooked, fortified with D, Antibiotics,
watered down, etc.
Almonds - Superfood when raw, govt passed a law requiring them all
to be "Radiated". Not so good anymore.
Camphor - Incredible amounts of uses, very medicinal, banned in
it's pure form, and over 10% concentration.
Water - Chlorinated w/nasty byproducts, fluoridated (toxin), and
reprocessed very quickly from waste. (we're energetically
consuming our own feces)
Tobacco - Very medicinal, anti-parasitic, but commercial tobacco
has too many additives, and is radioactive.
Seeds - GMO, Animal DNA, Pesticide Enzymes, it's all a big mess,
you know? Fortified is a joke.
The list is huge, I will stop here for now, suffice it to say,
these people contaminate everything they get involved in.
