Not necessarily ... many folks like to distill their own water. They use the water for drinking and other things not just making silver. In the long run I believe it can/will save you money. And save the environment by buying and using less plastic containers which will basically never biodegrade. I have been shopping for distiller myself but haven't made the leap yet.
