You could make up a strong solution of Epson Salt in water and soak a towel or folded cloth with it, and then put that on the affected area. Also, you could use a foot soak containing Epsom Salt, and this could be reused for a few days. Small quantities (about 1/2 tsp or less) can be taken by mouth without causing diarrhea but the taste is very bitter.
As for the taste of Colloidal Silver, 'Ole Bob said that you could wrap your cathode electrode (connected to the minus terminal) with a bit of paper towel and make sure that none of the residue from the cathode gets into the solution. He said that the bitter or metallic taste comes from the cathode residue. He also recommended using a smaller cathode electrode. (This is for units without polarity switching.)
