Also if the silver electrodes are not reasonably parallel then you will get uneven wear and also inconsistent brews as the total square area on the electrode will be at differing points, some areas will under precipitate and some will under precipitate the silver both are bad from a consistency point of view and can give a bad batch depending on how bent the wires are If you need to, cut and shorten the electrodes , but ensure they are as parallel as possible
