Hi Deb, If you have a silver maker you could try using that on the abcess. switch on, hold one electrode silver in fingers of one hand, use the other hand to hold the insulated part of the other electrode and prod the gum and tooth with the silver.
If it is terribly shocking then don't carry on but make yourself a godzilla device. A few prods of one second can start working wonders on the pain and the infection. If you can hold for 5 seconds that will be good progress. Repeat this as often as you can. Theory says swap the electrodes every now and then .
