Furthermore, it was common medical practice in the early to mid twentieth century to put drops of silver nitrate in babies' eyes. Such a medical practice is practically a worst case scenario with regard to silver use, and yet even that wide spread practice has no recorded side effects (other than temporarily turning the baby's eyes black).
