Dear Duncan,
I was also led to believe that out tap water was
'pure' by the water company. So I hooked my
CS LV circuit up to test it with my multimetre.
The results were terrible. The reading went off
the scale and blew a fuse, and even just
touching the electrode with the probe caused a
white film to emerge from the silver.

Made with pure water my CS is clear, with a
lovely after taste, so it makes a pleasant mouth
wash.

We fared better with spring water, but this was
still not pure enough to use for CS.

Try buying some pure water, or distilling your
own, and then you can compare your batches.
