James: I think you are mixing apples and oranges. Silver IONS react with 
chloride IONS. Silver particles have no charge. In order to have a CHEMICAL 
(we're not taking about ADsorption) reaction there has to be a charge balance 
(among other things). So write the reaction(s) you are contemplating, and 
don't forget to balance the charges for reactants and products. Roger
