Hi ladies and gentlemen, I made my first batch of CS with the 9 volt system. It's a bit cloudy, not quite clear, and I see some silver particles. How'z that sound? Can I consume this? ***NO!!!! Toss it and start over. Or, filter it with an unbleached coffee filter so only the fine particles go through. I put 3 drops of saline solution to every 4 oz. of distilled water. I used 12 oz. distilled water and cooked it twice for 30 minutes. ***NO!!! Don't add salt! That is making the silver clump into larger particles. That's the stuff that makes people's skin turn gray. All you have to do is heat the distilled water if you want the silver to be made faster. (Do not heat DW in a metal pan. I put the DW into a Pyrex glass measuring quart container, and then put that into a pan of plain water, heating it as though I'm using a double boiler.) For future batches, use about 1/4 cup of CS as a "starter," much as you'd add yogurt to milk to "start" the process of yogurt making. How can I make CS in a larger quantity? Do I have to have a bigger system? I assume I can't just fill a fish tank with water and use my 9 volt system for 30 minutes... ***Why not? Can't imagine watching over this 9 volt system a few hours/day to be able to make a gallon of CS, but want to make in quantity to experiment with a few humans and animals. ***Julie, I leave my water and electrodes unattended and always get great CS. The only time it didn't work out--the silver flaked off and the electrodes got "feathery" with excess silver flakes--was when the electrodes were too close to the sides or bottom of the glass container, or touching it. (This conducts electrical current too fast, which you don't want.) ***Why don't you start over. According to many of the CS mavens on this list, even a small 5 PPM solution will work wonders.
