I remember Damien Likowski talking about nebulizing CS for his 
Cystic Fibrosis early on and feeling like he was "drowning".

I'm sure there is some tendency to irritate things.

I 'spect you need to ask her to take the time to educate you. It's easy
for a busy physician, whose life is spent dispensing packets of advice
in brief moments of stillness between the rush of movement, to get used
to their word being taken as gospel without need of explanation.

Your daughter is a conscientious person, I imagine, but as much a 
prisoner of "the system" as anyone.
