YES! Marshall, I completely agree with you! I do Reiki as well and am very sensitive to energy. I am very aware of the intrusion of body piercing on acupuncture meridians, and for this reason don't think it's a good idea to pierce ANY part of the body. In 1980, I met a woman who had each of her ears pierced in several places. I could sense energy "leaking" out of her ears (this is the best way I know how to explain it). At my urging, she took out her earrings and allowed the holes to close. She later told me that she was very appreciative of my advice, since she did indeed feel better. I'm glad you brought the conversation to this point. It's so important what we do to the outside of our bodies, as well as what we put in the inside.
