Hello,

I am interested in probiotics, esp. the Essential (Beneficial) Microorganisms
of Dr. Teruo Higa of Okinawa. I am my own guinea pig in my own layman's
experiments, that is, drinking the stuff.

I wanted to see what CS does to my EM1 (80 microorganisms in five families,
that is, lactobaciilus, acidophilus, yeasts, actinomyces, and pytobacteria.)
I put 8oz of Robey-made 20 ppm in a two-liter bottle of EM1. Over ten days I
think most of the microorganisms have died. I judge this by taste,
primiarily, based on about 18 months of regular use. The taste now is mainly
of slightly acidic molasses and water. There is no yeasty frothing when I
shake the bottle, which is normally highly pressurized, sort of like beer.

I can not possibly not draw any major conclusions about this tentative
observation. It is a very casual experiment, and does not in any way
approximate real-life consumption of CS. My only point here is that anyone
interested in probiotic nutrition needs to keep in mind that CS may not be
selective at all in killing microorganisms. Further study would be
worthwhile. I experiment with CS rather cautiously myself.
