Normally the amount of chlorine is on the order of 1 ppm. One ppm of chlorine will react with about 3 ppm of silver (by weight). A pool containing 20,000 gallons of water with 1 ppm of chlorine would have sufficient chlorine to react with half a pound of silver making about 2/3 pound of silver chloride. I would hardly call that insignificant.
