What you stated is a current official understanding of this condition,
and this may or may not be the case. Rumor has it that a Patent Office
official resigned and recommended that the Patent Office be closed
because he thought that everything that could possibly be invented had
already been invented! It is just a rumor, but I wouldn't like for
anyone to be in that kind of state of mind.

The nerve damage is caused by an active virus, right? Why are you think
that CS is applied when the virus is dormant? All these remedies are
used when an outbreak happens, that is when the virus is active. If the
remedy is effective at making the virus dormant again, the body has a
better opportunity to heal damaged tissues which happens all the time.
That is how CS may help eliminate the pain. Moreover, CS is said to
speed tissue repair.

According to the article, the sap helps the lesions heal without scar
tissue formation. And it might also have analgetic qualities that would
explain why "within 10 to 20 minutes, the pain in the lesions reduces
dramatically".

I really don't see anything here that is out of this world.
