I am not sure who you are replying to since you
omitted the original message. I will assume it was
mine.

I must not have expressed myself clearly enough. I
didn't say that you or anyone else suggested not going
for the root cause. What I said was that once a
symptom is covered up, there's no motivation to pursue
the problem any longer. At least, that is how a
majority of people operate. I don't think you can
dispute that.

Neither have I suggested that suffering ennobles the
sufferer. I said that going through the problem (or
any problem) while growing up (and later on in life as
well) provides an opportunity to grow, in personal
sense.

A person with acne is not the only one who would like
to cure his/her condition fast. Anyone with any
condition would. And what you are suggesting is
exactly what allopathic medicine has been pursuing --
alleviating symptoms as fast as possible. But a normal
(statistically, not meaning healthy or wise) person
will not even think of pursuing the problem any
further. Once the symptom is gone, so is the
problem... or so majority of people would think. And
this allows the real problem to get worse.

Your approach is not a bad one in theory, but it's not
practical.
