Silverlon dressings > > http://www.silverlon.com/index.htm > Last night (23/12 - yeah, took me a while) there was a program on the "7.30 Report" (current affairs) about treatment for child burns victims in a Queensland hospital. They were using a Canadian silver dressing (didn't say name). Their results were phenomenal. http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2003/s1015508.htm " The secret to this apparent miracle is a silver coated dressing developed in Canada.
Because this dressing has to be dampened every six hours, it was originally used only on in-patients. But Dr Kimble and his research team developed a technique of using the dressing on out-patients as well, with the patient or carer injecting water into the bandage through plastic tubing. ... Not only are we having to do less dressing changes, we're also grafting 44 per cent less kids than when we were using the old cream. PETER McCUTCHEON: The Brisbane Royal Children's Hospital is the biggest user of this new treatment in Australia and is trying to promote its use around the world. It is ideally suited to the more shallow burns children typically suffer from. DR ROY KIMBLE: The most beautiful thing about this dressing is that instead of having to change your dressings every day, which was painful and distressing for the kids, these dressings only need to be changed every three to four days, which is much nicer, and plus the dressing changes are a lot less stressful for the kids."
