Colds may be a virus, but the secondary infections like sinus infections and bronchitis that come in after getting a cold can be bacterial. The weakening of the immune system and degradation of the mucus membranes can allow other organisms to get a foothold. So these other conditions can benefit from anti-bacterial means.
