You can get potassium sorbate at a wine-making supply store.  
It is used when bottling a sweet wine to keep it from fermenting in the
bottle.

In herbology, diarrhea is usually caused by the fire/heat principle
being out of balance. 
That partially explains why the silver (which is very cooling) works
for the problem.  But
I'm wondering if it isn't setting up a vicious cycle, killing off too
much of the flora in
the process.  I think that is what happens with me also.

 
Maybe someone on this list might suggest where you could get potassium
sorbate?
