High cholesterol has never been linked to heart disease. The whole thing is a sham propagated by Big Industry. The link to heart disease is one of OXIDATION. The proof is that equal numbers of people with normal cholesterol and with high cholesterol get heart disease. People whose cholesterol is high from eating saturated fats but not the oxidizing unsaturated fats do not have plaque deposits. Conversely, those who eat the unsaturated fats presented by the Heart and Stroke Foundation do get plugged up. Further proof exists in the form of a study published in Lancet that analysed the actual plaque. It is composed of 74% unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, oils from your diet. To find out what the world's most published cholesterol researcher says about it, read the well-referenced Cholesterol Myths by Uffe Ravnskov M.D. Ph.D. at: http://www.ravnskov.nu/myth1.htm To find out how we were maneuvered into thinking "cholesterol is bad", see the well-referenced The Oiling Of America by the world's foremost oils researcher Mary Enig: http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/oiling.html This ploy by Big Pharma and it's quasi-authoritative lapdog the Heart and Stroke Foundation is reminiscent of Hitler's saying about the bigger the lie the easier it is to get the population to believe it.
