Thanks for the tip. I'll clean up the black stuff with Oxyplus then follow
up with CS or Hydrogen Peroxide as Terry recommended.

I've had real good luck killing mold using Oxyplus (as seen on TV
hawked by the venerable Billy Mays).
Made up a paste using hot water and oxyplus powder.
No fumes, no gagging, spread it on, let it dry, brush it off.
