I just got a copy of "Ole Bob's" book "All About Making Ionic Silver Solutions." I spent the entire afternoon/evening giving it a quick read through (couldn't put it down). Of course, I'm kind of a CS nerd, but anyone interested in making their own CS or EIS will certainly be interested. Definitely worth the price.
"Ole Bob" has certainly put a lot of effort and time (and no doubt, money) into this. I learned quite a few things about making CS. It clears up many of the somewhat cryptic things that he keeps referring to. (The book has stimulated some questions in my mind which I will get into at a later date.) The book is complete with definitions, Frequently Asked Questions and Answers, a section putting CS into perspective in history, etc. However, the main thrust of the book is about making Ionic Silver Solutions and the rest of the book concentrates on that. There are several very clear step by step descriptions with pictures of different methods for making CS from unregulated LVDC to high volume HVDC production. And methods for telling where you are in the process. Has pictures, graphs, and drawings. I think "Ole Bob" has made some important discoveries and has provided clear insights into the CS making process that were not known before. Maybe some other scientist has done some proprietary research in his lab somewhere, but the info has not been disseminated like this. The book is cleanly done and well laid out. There are a few typos which can be overlooked, but generally very well done. The writing is refreshingly "Ole Bob" and retains a large measure of his character.
