There are several forms of silver oxide.
Peroxide does dissolve some, but creates others.
Peroxide will clean the black off the electrode quite fast, but if you
"leave" that electrode in the peroxide, it will turn black again with a
different form of silver oxide and peroxide won't clean that.
"Tarnish" comes from silver reacting with air born sulphur and sulphur
laden skin oils. [and eggs]

it, it may just diperse it so you cant see it :-)
I just use a paper towel to wipe the wires off and sometimes I use a
scotch bright to shine then up.
I used the peroxide to turn yellow CS clear one time. works good for that.
