Hi Jim, Since the center electrode is the cathode, I would wrap it with a piece of white paper table napkin and hold it in place with a couple of pieces of plastic coated twistems. When the brew is finish just slide off the paper and things are clean and no sparklies. Works well for me ! "Ole Bob"
