The *Anode* (connected to the + terminal) needs to be silver.
The *Cathode* (connected to the - terminal) can be another metal.

I have always been using two silver electrodes for my simple CS home
brew. 
Until I read, in preparation of my Colloidal Gold production, that
indeed only the cathode needs be silver.

Had not yet foud out what the anode then should be for a clean, clear
CS.
