Hi again,
        As far as I'm aware, plain MTA (Mail Transfer Agents) just process
mail. Virus scanning is something which is taken care of by another
application such as Norton Antivirus etc... Many ISPs state quite clearly
in their usage agreements that they take all possible care to prevent a
virus from reaching their subscribers, but that subscriers should also have
the relevant software for virus detection / prevention.
        Bearing this in mind, in the end, I think that it's up to the end
user not to open files attached by unknown people or unsolicited
attachments.
