As long as you are looking to buy a 2nd machine... can you afford (IP space wise, or other logistics) to just run 2 macs as servers? I ran SIMS on a Powerbook 160 (16mhz 68030 with 10 mb RAM) for quiet some time with NO problems. I currently run it on Quadra and Centris 610s (25mhz 040 36mb RAM). The only reason I stopped using the PB was because a Centris became available (technically, the PB still runs SIMS, but only as a backup mail exchanger sitting at my house, in case my work DSL goes down). It might be cheaper... and easier to just pick up an old 040 machine (probably on ebay for $10 or so, or you may have one, or know someone that has one sitting in a closet gathering dust) and use it to run SIMS standalone. Then you don't have to worry about Mac on Linux at all. On the same token, if you are going to Linux, you can probably also pick up a used Pentium for about the same cost ($10 or free... I regularly find P133's in curbside garbage, where I salvage them, clean them, and give them to local schools... one of those, with a 2gig HD and 64mb of ram should be good for linux). Of course, all this assumes logistically you can run two servers (I take for granted sometimes that I have 30 IPs with my DSL so adding another server is simple) -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
