Hi
I run an old mac internet server with SIMS/QPQ/NCSAtelnet and the usual assortment of cobbled together tools. It has served me well for years but now my institution has decided to block port 25, nominally for security reasons, claiming a danger of unauthorized servers. This despite my vigorous protests and despite the fact that it has been their NT servers and not my mac that have been downed by virus after virus for the past few years. Anyway, I went to check mail from home the other night and found that I could not access the SIMS pop server remotely. It works fine locally, so I assume there must be some block at the institution level. (Not that they gave me any warning, even though they know very well about the handful of us left running independent servers.) I can work around this by connecting directly via Timbuktu but this is a pain. Also, I have no idea what port that uses and whether that will be shut down, too. This machine will eventually go to OS X (and then I should be able to just log in with SSH) but I would like to have a dependable fall back. I see from the archives that there have been past discussions of web front ends for the SIMS/QPQbeta combo but many of these are old and I wanted to ask about people's current experience. Any pointers appreciated. thanks robin colgrove ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
