Hi Lane, I can relate - I own www.bear.net as my primary domain. The folks at Bear Stearns use bearstearns.com as their primary website, but use bear.com as their intranet site.
I get lots of emails intended for [EMAIL PROTECTED], but come to bear.net. In fact some time ago so idiot at bear actually ran an employment ad using my domain as the "send your resume" to address. I have spoken to a BS lawyer and they offered to buy my domain for $10,000. I laughed at him. At the time my traffic was much less then now, but still pretty good. I have talked to my lawyer about it, and she feels I have a very good case for compensation. Considering the BS lawyer told me that they felt the email problem would simply get worse and that they fully expected me to call them some day and give them the domain when I got fed up with the bandwidth all their emails were taking. I have also received buy/sell orders, spreadsheets with personal data - including SSN's with complete addressess, as well as other financial data. I run CGatePro as my main server and have reject messages off for this domain. If you want to talk on the phone about this sometime, send me your number offlist and I would be happy to call you. Oh, and I have been told my a number of people that I should be able to get at least $1,000,000.00 form BS just for my domain. They have a major problem with my site as it is a dating site for gay men. They don't like the neighborhood. Funny thing is, none of the financial media will touch this story. As I now actually work for an investment bank myself, I had a couple of contacts directly with the fnacial media and they told me they couldn't touch the story. BS is too big. Trying to get it out in the gay media now. That and I will be posting some of the emails received on the site soon.
